Photography Grants for Howard County Nonprofits

Hi, I'm David Hobby, a professional photojournalist based in Howard County for the past 30 years. My work takes me all over the world, but my roots are here in Columbia where I began my career as a photographer for Patuxent Publishing Company back in 1988.

For the past 10 years I have donated photography to various Howard County nonprofits, co-developing projects with the Howard County Conservancy, The Howard County Economic Development Authority and the Howard County Arts Council.

I am looking to partner pro-bono with more Howard County-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits through photography grants. Think of these grants in the same way you would think of a check from a foundation. But the grant is for photography rather than dollars. If your organization has a need for strong visuals that can help you support and expand your mission, please feel free to reach out to me.

To inquire, send me an email at HobbyDavid@yahoo.com and include the words "HoCo Photo Grant Inquiry" in the subject header. Tell me about your organization, how you serve the people of Howard County, and what possibilities you can imagine. If it is a good fit, we can start brainstorming from there.

The ideal grant will be for visual projects that are visually ambitious and have the ability to scale your message or amplify your fundraising efforts. So, think big. And if you have a sense that there are visual possibilities but you can't quite articulate them, maybe I can help with that as well.

Thank you,
